03-13-2009 Spletzer Sad About P-I Typo of the Year: "Race to With Mountain"
Andy Spletzer's career as a freelancer for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer ends on an inglorious note today when they botch the headline to his piece. "Race to Witch Mountain" is spelled "Race to With Mountain" in the print edition. That is sad for Andy - a good writer who by some stroke of Friday the 13th (March 2009) bad luck was forced to review a garbage movie as his last piece for a newspaper that will stop printing next week. I worked with Andy during "The Golden Age of the Stranger" in 1999 before he and Clark Humphrey were fired by a right wing sorority girl editor. That's all I'll say since I promised myself I wouldn't write about the Stranger too much. The owner helped me out greatly in the old days by giving me money and benefits for my graphic design services and I never forget good deeds like that. |
