Two New Belltown Websites Join Seattle's Neighborhood Blog Scene

Belltownpeople.com and inbelltown.com have joined the ever-evolving and always unprofitable world of Seattle neighborhood blogs.

InBelltown.com is run by Anisa, who is keeping her day job for now.
"Because of my day job, I interact with local chefs, restaurants and the nightlife scene. I’ll be bringing you updates on local happenings, restaurant insights, announcements, and hopefully some great recounts of interactions I have with Belltown’s chefs and foodies."

Belltownpeople.com seems a little sleazier. Both sites rely on linking to corporate media stories, like this belltownpeople bit about the recent City Foods robbery:
"for all the crackheads on their iPhones; do not steal from City Foods or Joe the Manager (no relation to plumber) will pull a Tatupu on your ass...."

First rule of neighblogging: be a writer. Second rule - an anonymous person is not a journalist. This is America, not China, and reporters here are proud to add their full name to the byline of a story.

Already covering Belltown in online-only format is our downtowndispatch.com - the sassy neighblog counterpart to the staid, conservative Belltown Messenger. Downtowndispatch.com is an experiment and not updated on a daily basis. There will be no Twittering here, and that's why we think a cacophony of neighblogs is so valuable. We really want to see some original reporting on these sites so that we can link to it.

Another aspiring neighblog, Belltowner.com, has not been updated since October 2008. I like that name, though. Hey Belltowner - we'll give you fifty bucks for the belltowner.com domain name!

-Alex

New! NYT discover neighblogging. They always wait at leasta year before discovering something, don't they?
