Belltown's moveable feast continues dans la rue. A wise man (ahem, ex-Seattle Weekly publisher David Brewster) recently said something to the effect: "One can buy and/or build all the fancy condos imaginable, but without great street life and sidewalk activity, it just isn't a neighborhood."
And through it all, Belltown has it. On any given night one may see choreographed 1980s dance routines, chalkers, stalkers, wild out fits, inebriated fighting girls in chemises & just about anything.
The Messenger's contributing to this ongoing spectacle with a dog fashion show, at noon Aug. 5 in the park at Third and Bell. All dogs are invited; as are human dressed as dogs and then in fashions. Preregister by emailing super-donkeylee@hotmail.com.

CJ's Eatery, 2619 1st Ave, is now open for dinner. The favorite Belltown breakfast spot-complete with a mural of the neighborhood-now offers a full menu selection from 4:30 pm until 9:30 pm Tuesday-Saturday, in addition to its 7 am-3 pm breakfast.
In the evenings CJ's offers a full menu (a signature selection of breakfasts is available at night). Additionally they will offer two rotating dinner specials per night, such as country pork chops, jambalaya, rosemary roasted pork loin and prime rib. And nightly seafood specials, such as Copper River salmon and wild Alaskan halibut. CJ's is also extending their wine list, to include options such as Purple Moon Shiraz and HoneyMoon Viognier.
Owner Sonja Nelson says the busy crew is all pretty excited. They've had oodles of customers requesting they stay open later. Regulars say there is nothing like CJ's; a place where you can go in flip-flops or church attire and feel comfortable.
Nelson says the evenings will be just like they are doing during the day. She added: "Our goal is to provide a comfortable atmosphere for whomever wants to dine with us."

The nightly entertainment continues at the Rendezvous, a great place to meet up. Entertainments range from "cine-oke" to burlesque dance troupes to "Spritus" (Faye The Tattooed Psychic's rendezvous with the dead) to an eclectic array of music to the "What the Hell Did I Just Watch Comedy Fest," on July 11.
The latter event's coordinator, David Crosman, promises an evening of "video shorts, sketches, and television pilots that all do one thing: Actually make you laugh. Not laugh politely or pretentiously, but actually laugh."
